Physiotherapy

Here at In Motion Chiropractic and Rehabilitation, we do not chase pain. It is important to understand that often times where the pain presents is not the area that needs to be treated. The pain may be due to that area compensating and being over-worked from another area not pulling its weight. Our rehabilitation program includes strength, flexibility and agility training as well as training focused on coordination of body parts and motion to prepare the individual to return to full participation.

This comprehensive and consistent approach works to retrain muscles, restore joint function, and prevent recurring injuries and doctor visits. Additionally, we will equip our patients with innovative techniques for maintaining proper posture, improving lifting mechanics or workouts, and determining “Do’s and Don’ts” related to certain jobs or daily activities. The effectiveness of this treatment protocol depends on the patient’s commitment to their therapeutic exercises and following the doctor’s recommendations. Improving the patient’s function, as opposed to simply managing the symptoms, can have a significant impact on injury reduction. Chiropractic adjustments make people feel better, but appropriate rehabilitation is essential for long-term positive outcomes.

Acting in coordination with our comprehensive approach,  Dr.T aims to treat neuromuscular (brain and nervous system), musculoskeletal (soft tissues, joints, and bones), cardiovascular and respiratory systems (heart and lungs and associated physiology). So overall physiotherapy is the perfect supplement for chiropractic care, as it addresses the full gambit of issues that could potentially be ailing the client. Without the multi-faceted approach we utilize here at In Motion Chiropractic and Rehabilitation, our clients could be left with shorthanded care – and missed opportunities to improve their quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

The only observable difference between physiotherapy, physical therapy, and corrective exercise is the approach and credentials/accreditations. Physiotherapy, much like physical therapy requires years of formal training and knowledge to achieve the ability to work with the general populations. The difference in the approach is that physiotherapy tends to be more “hands on” with joint manipulation and stretching, whereas physical therapy tends to be more exercise based. Corrective exercise plays into this system by being the final “link” between and injury or setback and traditional or moderate to high intensity training programs.

Joint manipulation and recovery processes can be uncomfortable, but not “painful”. Regaining or training new ranges of motion is critical to the recovery process, but can be challenging at times. However, Dr. T will know exactly the strategy to make the process efficient and rewarding.

Simple answer – you don’t! Dr. T takes all the guess work out of the process for you by learning and understanding your body, environmental circumstances, sporting history, and injuries you may have incurred throughout life. This information allows him to make a decision on which modality is best for you at this very moment.
